Body Scans - Best Practice

To ensure a repeatable, reliable measure of body composition, it is imperative to make sure you scan under controlled and consistent scanning conditions.

We recommend the best points of practice below:

  • Scan at the same time of the day (ie, first thing in the morning before food or training)

  • Preferably do not scan after training

  • Keep your hydration and food volume the same

  • Do not consume alcohol within 24-48 hours prior to your scan

  • Preferably, do not consume caffeine, pre-workouts, thermogenic aids (fat burners), diuretic supplements or any other caffeine related products prior to scanning

  • Ensure you are well hydrated

  • Ensure you are in a rested state and calm (ie, you haven't rushed to get you your scan. Give yourself time to allow your heart rate and blood pressure to return to normal)

  • Ensure you have full contact with the silver tactile points, feet, palms, fingers and thumbs at all times during the scanning process.

  • If you are female, take note of where you are in your hormonal cycle for consistency of readings.
